Wedding Vows

Dearest Franz, in the names of the Three Kindreds, I promise that I shall hold faith with you. I also promise, as Carl Sandburg wrote, “I love you for what you are, but I love you yet more for what you are going to be.” It has been a special dream of ours to share our lives as we grow older, and I look forward to seeing who you become through the years between now and then. I know now that I have been falling in love with you a little bit more each day for the past three years for the way you make me laugh and the way you have calmly supported me through difficult times. I thank you indeed for loving me. I promise now to be first and foremost your companion and your love. I promise to love you, honor you, care for you, be faithful to you, and stand “contigo pan y cebolla” from this day forward and for the rest of our lives.

Dearest Poppy, by all that I hold sacred, I promise that I shall hold faith with you. “The first time I loved forever, was when you whispered my name. And I knew at once you loved me, for the me of who I am.” Those words are a mere refection of how much I love you. I don’t have enough words or time to express fully what I feel, so I will say this: I vow to be with you from here on out. To be with you, walking hand in hand through fun and troubles. To stay by your side while we live our lives. These I vow to you.
